2000 - Information Kiosk
The highly acclaimed Opus
Information Kiosk made it's debut in the retail environment with the opening of West Quay,
Southampton's newest shopping centre early in October 2000. The £300 million
development covers a 53 acre brownfield site, and includes an impressive visitor
information system installed by Applied Relational Technology. The application
developers selected the Opus kiosk as the delivery vehicle for their intuitive public
information software.
The West
Quay system has 11 public terminals at various locations, and provides shoppers with an
easy to use guide to the centre that can be organised by shop or by product. In
addition, users can access up to the minute information about employment opportunities and
local events. Opus combines a high technical specification with rugged construction
and an elegant design, features which make the product the natural choice for publicly
accessed computer systems. At West Quay, the units are supplied in a specially
selected paint finish, chosen to co-ordinate with the interior of the centre.

information about facilities, galleries, exhibitions and events, all updated automatically
