How the FrancisFrancis X1 used to be:
The FrancisFrancis X1 espresso
coffee machine is the ultimate style statement for your kitchen - it's sexy,
cool, looks have made it the choice for lifestyle and cookery shows, such as The
Naked Chef, Gary Rhodes New British Classics, Sex and the City, Minority Report, Property Ladder,
60 Minute Makeover and Colin and Justin's How Not To Decorate.. The X1 seems to pop up on many television shows,
magazine and newspaper supplements, once you own one you seem to see them
everywhere.
The X1 was designed by Luca Trazzi in 1995 - his first coffee machine, and is now sold in 28 countries. The magazine WIRED described it's design as retro-futuristic.
Please note the new improved X1 is a ground coffee model only, no pod
compatibility, however the improvements to the X1 machine create stunning

Sturdy and easy to use, the X1 makes
excellent coffee using either E.S.E
pre-ground single serving "Easy Espresso System" pods, or your own blend of
bean, using the ground coffee adapter. The hot water dispenser
for tea, and the steam nozzle for heating/frothing milk for cappuccinos are also very
easy to use. You can even warm your cups on the top of the X1.
The body of the X1 coloured machines are made of metal treated by cataforesis (rust proofing). The exception being the stainless steel machine, which is totally made and finished with stainless steel.
The X1 now uses a brass boiler an improvement for heat retention over the aluminium system previously used.

The Francis Francis range was 'stream-lined'.
Colours that are no longer available are Pink, Cream, Green, White, Grey, Black+Chrome,
Titan and Gold.
October 2007: The FrancisFrancis X1 new Ground
model is launched. Various improvements. Great results.
March 2008: All Classic machines (pod + ground) are now no longer available from
FrancisFrancis distribution source.
May 2008: All our stock of Classic models has now been sold. Ongoing, X1
Ground models are the only availability.
