The Wangdat 3100 and 3100DX are DDS1 drives with a 2Gb capacity. They are 3.5" as standard, a 5.25" fixing kit and bezel is available as an option.

INTRODUCTION
The following tables and notes give a quick guide in setting up the Wangdat 3100 2Gb.
The notes explain the setting of dip switch block SW1, dip switch block SW4, jumper JP1
and the three terminating resistors.
| SW1 - Dip Switches | On Value | Off Value | Default Settings |
| 1 | Enables Buffered Mode | Disables Buffered.Mode | OFF |
| 2 | Not Used | Not Used | ON |
| 3 | SCSI 2 | SCSI 1 | ON |
| 4 | Enables Cartridge Eject | Disables Cartridge Eject | OFF |
| 5-8 | Reserved | Reserved | OFF |
| SW4 - Dip Switches | On Value | Off Value | Default (Parity ON, SCSI ID 0) |
1 |
Parity is enabled | Parity is disabled | ON |
2 |
Gives SCSI ID Value of 1 | Gives SCSI ID Value of 0 | OFF |
3 |
Gives SCSI ID Value of 2 | Gives SCSI ID Value of 0 | OFF |
4 |
Gives SCSI ID Value of 4 | Gives SCSI ID Value of 0 | OFF |
NB.You can choose any SCSI ID value from 0 to 7. See table
below.
To do this the dip switches 2, 3 and 4 from SW4 are arranged in various ON OFF
combinations.
So for example SCSI ID 5 would be ON OFF ON (1 + 0 + 4 = 5).
| SW4 - Dip Switches | Dip Switch 2 (Value = 1) | Dip Switch 3 (Value = 2) | Dip Switch 4 (Value = 4) |
| SCSI ID VALUE 0 | OFF | OFF | OFF |
| SCSI ID VALUE 1 | ON | OFF | OFF |
| SCSI ID VALUE 2 | OFF | ON | OFF |
| SCSI ID VALUE 3 | ON | ON | OFF |
| SCSI ID VALUE 4 | OFF | OFF | ON |
| SCSI ID VALUE 5 | ON | OFF | ON |
| SCSI ID VALUE 6 | OFF | ON | ON |
| SCSI ID VALUE 7 | ON | ON | ON |
SCSI TERMINATION: JP1 (Jumper Block)
Jumper JP1 connects termination power to the SCSI bus. When the two pins are jumpered, and thus installed,
termination power is supplied by the drive. Without a jumper the power is supplied by the
host. (The default setting is for the pins to be jumpered)
Terminating Resistors - The drive must be
terminated (using the terminating resistors) if it is either, a stand alone unit, or last
in a chain of devices. Terminating resistors are fitted one way only, a white circle
printed on the PCB shows pin1.
SCSI CONNECTION
The Wangdat 3100 2Gb needs to be connected to a SCSI controller card. A low cost card,
such as an Adaptec 1505, is
suitable for this task. However the Adaptec 1505 will only control the one SCSI
device.
| LED/Colour | State | Indication |
| Green (left LED) | On | Drive activity on SCSI bus |
| Red (left LED) | Flashing | Drive fault condition exists |
| Amber (right LED) | On | Cartridge in place |
| Amber (right LED) | Flashing | Unloading/Loading cartridge |
The table of LED indicators on the left, gives an idea of the various functions of the flashing LEDs.

90 Metre |
To back up 2Gb on a Wangdat 3100 a 90 metre cartridge is used, however a 60 metre cartridge can be used acheiving a 1.3Gb capacity. |
